Michael Gregory Derrick is a member of the firm and has served previously for two terms as Chairman of the firm’s Management Committee. Mr. Derrick has a background in Insurance and Risk Management with experience in claims, production, underwriting, and loss control. He has worked in-house for a major commercial property and casualty insurer as well as for local, regional, and international brokers. He has had extensive involvement in both the domestic U.S. and overseas London markets, implementing and managing a multitude of insurance and risk management programs with a particular emphasis in product liability. He has practiced law with the firm for over 15 years. Before joining Shuttleworth Williams, he was Vice President and Counsel, overseeing the claims operation for Willis Corroon Nashville.
Mr. Derrick is licensed to practice law in Tennessee as well as admitted to the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit; the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Tennessee; the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas; and, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. He has also been admitted pro hac vice in over 20 states litigating a variety of cases mostly involving product liability. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the Memphis Bar Association, and the Society for Property and Casualty Underwriters.
